Congratulations to Dr. Tianyi Chen

My student Mr. Tianyi Chen defended yesterday successfully his thesis titled as “Dense Subgraph Discovery: Novel Algorithms and Applications”. The committee was composed of Prof. George Kollios, Prof. Evimaria Terzi, and Dr. Atsushi Miyauchi. Tianyi focused on addressing dense subgraph discovery issues in contemporary graph datasets, including uncertain graphs, multilayer networks, and graphs containing opinion data, among others. Tianyi made a significant impact at BU, both as an outstanding PhD student and as an exceptional teaching fellow. I am delighted that he is already embarking on a machine learning engineering position in Celonis, a company that specializes in process mining and process excellence and has been recognized as a leader in the process mining market by industry analysts. Some photos from the defense for the record follow.
